Longines made their way into the elusive billion-dollar watch brand club ($1 billion+ in annual sales revenue) during the last decade, largely because of attractive re-edition timepieces that pay homage to their storied past. The company’s Heritage line continues to impress and to start off the new decade they’ve introduced perhaps their best-looking chronograph from the collection to date.

Introducing the Heritage Classic Chronograph 1946, presented in a 40 mm diameter stainless steel case with a silvery opaline dial printed with black italicized “Dolphin” Arabic numerals, a black minute/second chapter ring, blued leaf and baton-shaped hands, a 30-minute chronograph counter at 9, and 60-second small seconds subdial at 3.

Underneath the retro snap-on steel caseback, is a modern ETA A31.L21 automatic movement that beats at 4Hz and has a 54-hour power reserve. The caseback is engraved with a winged hourglass motif (the company’s historic logo), encircled with “EF Co LONGINES” which stands for Ernest Francillon, who ran Longines beginning in 1852.

The Heritage Classic Chronograph 1946 comes on a black leather strap with steel pin buckle. A domed sapphire crystal protects the dial. Flat-pushers operate the chronograph. Water-resistance is 30 meters. (Ref. L2.827.4.73.0)
